Each year Porsche Centre Victoria participates in and sponsors the Black Rock event in Ucluelet, BC. This year was a resounding success! With roughly 65 cars, and 130 people, we helped raised nearly $20,000! Nearly $6,000 going to the Ucluelet volunteer fire department and nearly $14,000 for the Cops for Cancer Tour de Rock!
The event kicked off on Thursday May 25th at Black Rock Oceanfront Resort. The afternoon consisted of registration, whiskey tasting and welcome social.
On Friday morning after a delicious breakfast, event guests participated in an Autocross event at the Tofino airport. With roughly 35 drivers participating, the competition was fierce but Vancouver Island Motorsport Circuit member Uli Jaeckel took home first place in a 2016 GT4, Porsche Centre Victoria's very own Tyson Johnson taking second place in a 1987 Carrera.
Friday continued with an off-road event, led by our General Manager, Paul Rossmo, Parts Advisor, Ricky Luptak, and Service Manager, Gary Peever. Facing unexpected challenges, they had to change their routing due to heli-logging in the area. The team still managed to find some stunning remote wilderness.
Friday Night ended with a beautiful display of fireworks and a delicious BBQ organized by the volunteer fire brigade.
We started Saturday right with a pancake breakfast before making our way to to a Show and Shine and High Performance Driver Training. We explored this beautiful part of the island with a nature walk before attending a banquet in support of Cops for Cancer.
We were sad to say goodbye to beautiful Ucluelet but we ended with a memorable RCMP and Porsche parade.
We are so proud to be a sponsor of this amazing event each year! Thank you to the Vancouver Island Region - Porsche Club of America, Black Rock Resort, Ucluelet Volunteer Fire Department and RCMP Cops for Cancer for all your hard work!
We already cannot wait until next year!
