On August 26, 2018, even with the change in the weather and the fear of rain, GAIN Group's 2018 Vancouver Island Motor Gathering was still well attended and an incredible success, raising $186,218 in cash donations this year!
With over 400 registered show vehicles, over 7,500 spectators, 106 generous sponsors and over $220,000 of in-kind sponsorships the event exceeded last year’s totals! Even with cash prizes for each category, the generosity continued to flow with four winners donating back their prizes into the total. Those generous winners were H. Sager, B. Johnson, S. Seixeiro and M. Jeffers.
Contributions of $56,218 went to the Cowichan District Hospital Foundation in their efforts to raise funds for their new, much-needed hospital for the region; $100,000 to the David Foster Foundation, which helps continue the support for families of children in need of organ transplants; and $30,000 to local families whose needs are not supported by any specific organization.
A big congratulation goes out to the Vancouver Island Porsche Club as the winners for "Best Car Club Display." It was fitting to see in this year's 70 years of Porsche sports cars, that the club was able to showcase Porsches that spanned the entire generation of Porsche vehicles. It was beautiful to see how everyone expressed their love and passion for the brand while treating show attendees to a concourse of exquisitely maintained Porsche vehicles.
The event organizers will be adding additional photos into special albums covering the event so be sure to check out the website and see the gallery of beautiful Porsches and other vehicles/winners of the show. Be sure to follow them on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram to see all the latest updates on our post-event information, and to be informed on new developments to next year’s show.
After seven amazing successful fundraising years and the same format, the Motor Gatherings is also looking to the future, and going to change things up to bring something different to the island! Looking forward to seeing everyone again on August 25th, 2019 for the next and newly formatted Vancouver Island Motor Gathering!
